New life for a new decade! Enter the New Year prepared for God’s providence. We want God’s will as well as God’s wisdom, so we want to do all due diligence to seek direction, not just in scripture but also in providence.

WHY PRAYER AND FASTING?

1. NEW DECADE, BIG DECISIONS
Pagans offered sacrifices. We fast because we are not placating an unpredictable god, but coming boldly to the grace-throne of a Father God (Heb 4:16).
We are fasting for:
– Deacon selection during February
– Good News Club, Sunny Pointe Elementary – “Easter Immersive” Outreach Apr 9 & 12
– All-Church Mission Trip June 9-15
– VBS June 22-25
– All-Church Retreat July 22-25
For our marriages! For our families! For outreach!
 
2. SO I AM NOT LEFT UNTO MYSELF!
The more serious the spiritual battle, the deeper we take our relationships, and relationship with God. Fast- ing with prayer enlists the most important relationship I need.
• BUT IT SOUNDS SO HARD
Because of the way it is structured, the only meal you miss is breakfast.
• BUT IT SOUNDS SO LONG
A. Try it for the first week
B. When that goes well, keep with it for a month C. By then you will want to carry through!

16/8 Intermittent Fasting

• Spend 16 hours consuming nothing but unsweetened beverages like water, coffee, and tea. The remaining eight-hour window is when you eat meals and snacks.
• Eat from Noon until 8 p.m. If you have a schedule or health issue that prevents this, select a window of time that will work, and stick to it with us.
• If you feel famished in the morning, eat one serving only (4 oz.) of something healthy to get you through until Noon.
>> Pray and Praise with us Sunday nights, 5:30-6:45 p.m.
>> Begin fasting with us Monday, February 3.
>> Use the weekly Prayer Diary in place of breakfast, to start your morning devotions.
Try to carry this through until Lord’s Supper on Sunday, March 29th. We will break our fast together at communion. After the unified 10 a.m. service, we share “biblical foods” with you in the gym.
