Soft Touch
This ministry began as Pastor Jobe sat with his wife Candi, as she was receiving her chemotherapy treatment. As he considered all that the Lord had put before him, he asked God how this could be used for His glory. God reminded him of a passage of scripture in Exodus 4. God had told Moses that he would be used to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses then responds like most of us would and questions God's plan. "And Moses answered and said But behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice, for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto thee. And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said A rod. Pastor Jobe focused on the question God had asked Moses. What is in thine hand? At the time, Pastor Jobe was holding a blanket that had been given to Candi. She used it to keep warm during her treatments. This was when he realized what God was leading him to do. Start a new ministry!
About the same time, Pastor Jobe had been given a CD with a song titled "Yours and Mine" recorded by The Isaac's, a gospel singing group. Through a series of events, Pastor Jobe was able to meet The Isaac's while they were in town for a book signing. He presented his idea for the ministry including giving a copy of the song and a blanket to each person diagnosed with cancer. It was then that he discovered, one of the Isaac's was a cancer survivor. Needless to say, they were happy to be a part of this new ministry.
Pastor Jobe presented the idea for the ministry to the church and our members got busy making the blankets and CD's to hand out. To date, we have given away over 200 blankets to people who have been diagnosed with cancer!
